Safety

Energy Transportation/Crane & Rigging is about being innovative. Our company has been, and will continue to be, a leader in the field of safety in our industry by finding the best equipment and methods to safely do a job. Each day starts with a 6 a.m. safety meeting for all employees in all work groups, where the work schedule and safety concerns are presented. We have found communication to be one of the most important aspects of a good safety program. Employees that communicate are better prepared to do a job that adds value to our customers' projects and their objectives.

Employees are being constantly trained to know the right procedure, the right piece of equipment, the right rule or regulation in order to complete each job successfully. Training never stops at Energy Transportation Inc.

New hires are "on-boarded" through an effective orientation process to help assure the right employee is placed in the right job. A progressive program is in place to help advance employees into jobs requiring greater skill and ability, as well as higher pay.

Mandatory safety meetings, mandatory safety equipment inspections, mandatory use of personal protective equipment are elements that help foster a safety culture whereby employees can know every attempt is made to provide them with a safe environment to work and help advance their chosen profession.

Energy Transportation Inc. has been and will continue to be a "zero tolerance" workplace concerning the use of drugs. Our company is Department of Transportation compliant in its testing policy. Pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post accident is our standard.

Safety to us means, "Doing the right thing, at the right time."

Training

Training is an integral part of working at Energy Transportation. Not only are all new employees required to undergo a two-day orientation, but also continue their training as they are given the opportunity to advance in their career.

All crafts are trained in:

  • Driving safety
  • Reporting accidents
  • Taking care of oneself while on the road
  • Fall protection
  • Log books and managing the books
  • Daily inspections of cranes and trucks
  • Driving in mountain terrain
  • Fire safety of equipment
  • Communication with supervisors and co-workers
  • Back injury prevention
  • Slips/trips/falls
  • Drugs in the workplace
  • Workers compensation
  • Rules and regulations from the Department of Transportation

Along with extensive orientation and basic training, ETI employees are required to take Mine Safety & Health Administration training in order to do work in a mine. MSHA training is done in-house at our Casper location; the 24-hour requirement for new hires is supplied, while an eight-hour refresher for employees who need to update their certifications is supplied. During MSHA training, some OSHA topics and CPR/FA are covered.

ETI has implemented a new program for all of our drivers: defensive driving. Defensive driving helps to identify the conditions of driving to increase awareness of the risks and hazards of behaviors that result in violations and crashes.

All riggers and crane operators are certified in their fields. Some training is done in-house, while other training is done 3rd party. Training done 3rd party consists of BP, Shell and Wyoming/Montana Safety Council. For the crane operators, the NCCO program is available.

All training is documented, ensuring all employees stay current in their areas of training. ETI is in compliance with all training that is required in the industry.
